What People Are Saying

The Watermelon Gospel is not only a good, fun, sobering read. It is also being used by the Spirit in changing hearts - and even worldviews about who God is and his invitation to walk with him! Here are a few quotes from around the block!

I knew Bill back when he was in Epping and had many hilarious moments with him including a hitchhiking experience. I very much enjoyed this read and the watermelon experiences are so poignantly the way God has always revealed himself to Bill!!! Amazing!

Such great testimonial stories! A lot of which had me in stitches. Having grown up on the space coast during the 60’s and 70’s and with some of the characters, I really did have a front row seat while reading this. I will definitely be sharing my copy with friends and family.

I just read this book,The Watermelon Gospel by my friend, Bill Blomquist . It is honest and raw, touching, funny, inspiring, and overall a great read!

One of my favorites! Raw, real, and refreshing. Honest to the bone and a testament of a beloved child of God.

How fantastic!!! Congratulations on your book! As a former member of your youth group in Epping, I often wondered about your conversion and your past but never asked because I was content with the Spirit filled man your were by that time! I will have to buy the book!!!

Mine is on my Kindle. Blessings abounding

I’m on page 48 chapter 6. I’m 3 years older than you. I felt like we lived parallel lives. If we lived in the same area, we probably would’ve hung out together. There are so many similarities, including the questions about God. This is almost uncanny reading this... So many memories popping up reading this.

... Just finished The Watermelon Gospel. Loved it, beautifully written. I especially like the way you tied the various ways God was speaking to you at each stage as you went along. So often in "self-destruction" testimonies, it feels like the Lord is showing up only at the eleventh hour. The effect of that is usually to put too much weight on the destructive behavior so much so that the author (or speaker) comes across at least equally as proud of their sordid past as they are humbled by God's intervention. You didn't do that. Praise God you could be so stoned and still sense his presence in the moment. That's like a tenth fruit of the Spirit, brother--supernatural sobriety--or maybe it's a new way of understanding "self-control."

Another thing Jesus revealed to me through your book is that my story (and everyone's story) is no less one of complete self-destruction and tenacious God-redemption. ... Your stories one after another were so outrageous that I became numb to their scandalousness and saw myself in them more clearly. I came away from the book thinking I was truly just as lost as you; and now, praise God, I was found just like you were by a love of the Lord so relentless.

I was Bill!! Your story was amazing and at times, mind blowing lol. There were a few parallels to my own life. How blessed are we to look back over our lives and witness a redemption story like this. It definitely was miraculous for you. His deep love for us restores us. How deep and how wide is that love!!!

Bill I really enjoyed the good and the wild! There is so much hope for us all to know how persistent God is in showing us the way!

I finished last week. Praying about who to pass it on to.

I passed mine on to a friend already!
